Weezer Gets Their Own Online Radio Station
If you’re a Weezer fan, then you’re in luck! The group is set to air on their own personal radio station in a new project called A.P.E., which stands for Artist Personal Experience.

Clear Channel Radio and Frontline Management are starting the project, which will see bands producing their own 24-hours online radio stations.
The radio stations will feature music selected by each artist, as well as interviews and commentary.
The fun starts with Weezer in July, but future artists include Christina Aguilera and The Eagles.

Exclusive Interview: Mia Carruthers From MTV’s ‘Taking The Stage’
by Roberta on May 6, 2009
in Interviews, Mia Carruthers
Mia Carruthers is the 17-year-old singing star that’s taking MTV’s “Taking The Stage” by storm. Currently residing in Cincinnati, Mia plays at coffee houses and is a senior at the SPCA in Cincinnati.

Hi Mia, first of all I want to thank you for taking the time to speak with me today.
When did you start singing and playing guitar? Also, I hear that you play the saxophone?
I’ve been focusing on the guitar since I was 13 and was working pretty diligently with that. I majored in the saxophone in school and have been playing that since the 6th grade. I’ve recently taken up playing the piano.
Why did you choose to name your guitar Arnold?
I dunno, he just looked like an Arnold to me.
What are the influences in your music?
A lot of jazz and classical music. My dad’s music is inspiring to me. But if you want to talk established artists, then artists like John Mayer and James Taylor are inspiring.
What genre is your music considered a part of?
My solo thing is mostly folk pop but the band [The Retros] is harder to classify and people will just have to listen to it and find out for themselves.
What would you say to fans who haven’t yet heard your music?
I’d like for them to. You really get a sense of who I am through my music and it’s the reason I did the show in the first place. I’d tell fans I’m a young artist with a mature sound and they should check out my music.
I’ve heard that your goal is to have a record deal by the time you’re 18, how’s that coming along for you?
If you’ve seen the previews for the finale, I’ve got a meeting with Jive Records. Fans will have to watch and see what happens tomorrow night on the finale of the show to see what happens with that.
Tell us all about Mia Carruthers And The Retros. I see from your website that it’s a project you’ve got in the works.
Yes, it’s just my band that I’ve been playing with for a couple of months. They’re harder to classify. Everyone will just have to hear it and classify it for themselves. It’s an interesting mix.
Any details on when your CD will be released?
No exact date yet, we’ll probably be recording a 5-6 track EP that will be available this summer.
